Aeromodelling has been going on for more than 50 years in our country, earlier, we could pick up our model and go and fly in the nearest open space available, it has even become a part of the NCC curriculum.
It became regulated very early in US/Europe and UK,with proper rules in CAA/JAA/FAA and local Institutes like AMA(US)/BMFA/Clubs in Germany,France etc. In the recent past due to the increasing public threat and limited space,it it frowned upon by the Security agencies and is being seriously considered to be banned.
Model flying in India is under increasing pressure from legislative and environmental bodies and the AMA, would be involved in ever increasing fields of activity to protect model flying on your behalf.
It is important to remember that although our chosen sport is one of the larger of the minority sporting activities, we are still vulnerable to the negative aspects of public opinion. Your enjoyment of model flying, now and in the future, depends on developing and displaying a highly conscious 'safety first' attitude towards your equipment and the flying site you use. The best publicity the sport can receive is through your actions and your responsible and safe attitude to flying at all times.
The requirements are that every user of space for flying objects must be a recognisable person accountable socially for his action.
AMA with the guidance of ACI is making serious effort to change that perception of security agencies,by ensuring that every modeller provides,a proof of residence in the form of passport copy/ driving license etc and there is adequate insurance for third party involvement and designated field/space is used in a controlled manner for this activity.
AMA urges all aeromodellers in the country to actively participate in the process of providing pride of place to aeromodelling as aerosport and make it safe and secure.
Best Regards
