Always put your name /cell no.sticker inside the fuselage, you may get your model back ,if its flown away.Cases are very few,but they have happened.
Try something new, combine gliders and power planes-tow a glider,or have it ride piggy back and release in the air-great way to give a non-powered glider height to get into thermal soaring.
What causes Lipo packs to swell:
Misusing packs will do it.That includes too high discharge rate,or too fast a charge. But what about packs that have not been subjected to this?I have several from various manufacturers, that are swollen significantly.
One source attributes the swelling to the generation of hydrocarbons.Decomposition of solvents used in the manufacturing process is also suspect.
If anyone has had better than I have trying to get an explanation of the swelling under normal use,I hope you will share the information so that I can report it here.
And if you are thinking of using a lipo in you transmitter, avoid it,there have been cases of the RF output transistor burnout, instead use the LiFe battery, much safer and lasts long.
Any one who knows a good aeromodeler can write a brief about him, background, education, profession, start of aeromodeling ,milestones, achievements, location, photos, etc, which we can publish under “Know your aeromodeler” series of articles .Let somebody write about you ,we do not want an autobiography.
Training:
If you ask clubs about instruction programs, the overwhelming majority would respond by saying, “Sure, we provide help for the newcomer.” All too often though, little thought is given to how the instruction is structured. There just seems to be an ultimate goal; learning to fly, but without a road map to get there. If you did have a more organized approach, in the long haul you would learn that you have safer flying and keep members longer. In the end, you will create a better club.
It seems that our sport puts a lot of emphasis on trying to get people interested in model aviation, but less emphasis is placed on keeping and satisfying them once they start flying. True, the equipment we use has never been better, but instruction methods haven’t really changed much over the past 50 years. If we want to sustain and grow the pilot ranks in an instant-gratification society, instructors need to ensure that their students’ flight experience is a satisfying one by providing training that ensures success right from the start.
More recently, simulators have helped a lot, but while simulators can help people learn with fewer crashes, student pilots need proper guidance to learn to fly correctly. Otherwise, incorrect practice can lead to learning bad habits that can be difficult to change and impair future success. In other words, just because a person can fly, it does not mean that he’s flying correctly — as many pilots discover when their skills plateau after only a few short years.
Good equipment definitely helps, but nothing impacts a person’s flying as much as the quality of his flying technique. Nothing! So, instructors’ wishing to improve both the short and long term effectiveness of their instruction need to do more than rely on quantities of stick-time and good equipment.
CULTIVATING SUCCESS
A commonly held belief is that the repeated practice of any one thing will eventually lead to mastering it–the “practice makes perfect” approach–but then why do so many flyers’ skills plateau despite practicing regularly? That’s because practice doesn’t make perfect, correct practice makes perfect! Numerous performance studies have shown that optimal learning of a new skill occurs within the first 3 to 4 attempts. After that, learning tends to sharply drop off due to the pilot starting to lose focus or succumbing to “paralysis of analysis” and declining performance due to falling behind the airplane.
Regardless of the content of your instruction, the combination of pre-flight preparation and positive reinforcement will help keep your students focused on effectively applying your instruction rather than letting anxiety and mistakes dominate the training — thus turning what was an arduous experience that most of us couldn’t wait to get past, to one of the most rewarding and exciting times that either the student or instructor can ever be involved in!

Cheers and happy flying!
AMA believes that model Aviation is a stepping stone for young people to enter future careers in aviation and aerospace. Modelers are never bored, because they always have a project or more than one going. Being researched or planned/filed. We are methodical and sometimes inundated with ideas.
The exchange of ideas during an event or competition is what makes the activity a gentleman's sport. During the upcoming Meet in Karnal in November 2011, non members would be required to pay a participation fee.
Reliance Infrastructure has offered the four airports developed by them in Maharashtra for training, flying and competitions in Aeromodeling, by AMA and its members, modalities of cooperation are being worked out.
The latest craze or excitement is jets, using micro turbines for power. These are expensive to say the least, there is however an option for those who would like to fly jets at an affordable cost - consider Electric ducted fans(EDF), yes todays EDF's match the power of turbines, links to these suppliers will be shortly put up on our website.
AMA encourages aeromodeling in all forms, from the humble chuck glider to the jets and helis, and specially those who draw/design their own, fabricate from foam/coroplast/balsa and enjoy the flight of their creation in contrast to those flying ARF's/ARTF's.
We are thankful to our adversaries and critics, who have helped us improve in many areas, and we hope they will imbibe some of the principles incorporated by us to create a healthy and safe aeromodeling environment.
We now have our own website not subject to the vagaries of the "Free" developer, where we can more effectively develop and control content.

it is like expecting the wolf not to attack you because you are a vegetarian". Unquote.
Happy Flying Sessions.

Life members Rajesh Joshi has created a national record, mentioned in the Limaca book of records March 29th, page 116 for designing and building the largest model aircraft 21feet wing span using a 150CC engine.
Bearing in mind that Rajesh is not a qualified engineer and a self made aeronautics specialist, it is quite an achievement, to build from scratch, and make a successful flight.
Congratulations Rajesh!

A group of flying enthusiasts, members of Aero Modelers Association of India, fly models of planes in Sector 121 every weekend Soaring is their passion. Having excelled in their respective fields, these corporate honchos, accomplished businessmen, retired defence officers and meritorious students from the national capital region meet on weekends for a common obsession. The deserted plot of land in Sector 121, Noida, brims with activity on weekends as these passionate fliers get off their sedans and SUVs and start preparing the models of aircraft to quench their urge that simmers for five working days during the week. Fifteen enthusiasts belonging to the Noida chapter of Aero Modelers Association India (AMAI) fly models of all shapes and sizes that run on gas and aircraft fuel and can run up to 200 km per hour. They have sought permission from the police for using the Sector 121 land for flying as the area is away from buildings and habitation. Col (retd) Tarun Mathur, 55, might have retired from his ground duty in the Army but he is now having fun in the air. The rules of aerodynamics apply to aero modeling as well. The beauty of aero modeling is that you are struggling every day with yourself. And you can fly till 85. There is also a social aspect to it. You meet people from diverse fields, he said. Divay Puri, corporate operations manager with a multinational bank, was stung by the bug about five years back when he saw a person aero modeling a chopper at a mall in the Phillipines. I was so fascinated that I did research on the Internet to get into the loop, he said. Since then it has become a passion with Puri, who is now regional secretary of the Noida chapter of AMAI. According to him, skill and alertness are the two important attributes of a good flier. HS Kalsi, 55, instructor at the airfield, can be seen giving tips to the fliers. He has been in the field since 1972. Kalsi is also an instructor at the Aero Club of India. He is considered to be so experienced in the field in the NCR that fliers from Delhi and Gurgaon come to Noida to get some tips from him. Fred Giron, 35, who is into market research for a multinational company, resumed aero modeling after 20 years, last week. It was great fun to resume my old hobby that had to be put on a backburner for all these years due to other commitments, said this resident of Gulmohar Park, New Delhi. It is not only keen fliers from Delhi who come to Noida. Ashwini Beri, 46, who runs a BPO for a leading multinational, comes all the way from Gurgaon, along with his son Maahin, a class 12 student. Kalsi is the most experienced instructor in the NCR. Though there is a facility available at Gurgaon as well, we prefer to come to Noida, he said. These fliers are also getting support from their families. Col Mathur's wife, Ragini, often goes to the airfield to watch these fliers do aerobatics. Sangar's wife Aarti and Puri's wife Ridhima also want their husbands to pursue aero modeling seriously. FACT FILE Who can fly: Only two days of flying is allowed for guests without any charge, after which if the person wishes to fly on the field, a one-time charge of Rs 1,000 is taken for field maintenance. Sale and repairs: The fliers buy it during their visits overseas or through the Internet. There are some outlets in India as well. And repairs? Fliers fix them on their own with the help of other members or after reading or posting questions at various aero modeling forums. Flying range: one km radius Types of aircraft Ready to fly (RF): Pre-fabricated models that take 45 minutes to assemble Almost RF: It takes three hours to assemble the model Build up: They are built up and assembled over a period of time. It takes 100 to 120 hours to get them ready for flying. The cost factor Cheapest: Rs 20,000 Jets: Rs 4 to 5 lakh Choppers: Rs 1.5 to 5 lakh Speed: Up to 200 km/hour website : amai.in
